Teeny Tiny Bear

And I am off and running again.  We are settling into a routine around here. The children are doing a bit of summer school in the mornings and our chores right after lunch.  After that, we all get some free time to just play around.  I finally finished the bear I was working on.  It is so cute!  I have started the bunny.  I am loving the design, I CANNOT wait to see it finished!

This bear has bent legs and can sit on the edge of a shelf or lay on his tummy with his legs in the air.  It is pretty tiny, I used 15mm discs and tiny cotter pins to joint. The only thing I will change on this little guy is the fabric I used on the paw pads. I only had the right color in felt and I don't like to use felt with mohair.  I need to get some ultrasuede or something similar.

The bunny rabbit has the cutest body shape and will have long front legs, huge back feet, and cute bunny ears.  I am making it from cream colored string mohair with cream paw pads.  I have the front legs nearly finished.  I am looking forward to after school, lunch, and chores to work on it again!

Life is different around here, not only do we have five of our grandchildren for a while, but my husband took a new job and he is out of the house five days a week for twelve hours.  I  am thankful for the job as he was facing a layoff with the former job. We have so much to be thankful for.

I hope you have some time to work on the things you enjoy. Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate you. Please post a pic of what you're working on, I would love to see. It is almost my turn to post on the Patchwork Posse, watch her page for me!

Snakes Alive...

Or dead... It took us a couple of minutes on our walk today to figure out if this one was alive or dead...fortunately for this Nana, it was NOT alive!!!  The children wanted to go to the mailbox with me. It was 109*F and they were too hot in the 100 yards to the mailbox! Then we had to check Grammy's pomegranates to see if they were ripe and ready to harvest.  They weren't quite ready so we came home through the park and found this one! EEEWWWWW!!

I am finishing up with the bear today or tomorrow. I mended toys today. The children had some toys that had lost stuffing and others with legs or other limbs missing, I sat and repaired all those today. They are so excited!! I will have a pic soon. I can't wait...kinda like reading the last chapter in a book, just can't wait to finish. Seems free time is at a premium.

I will be posting to the Patchwork Posse blog soon. If you haven't had a look yet, you should go check it out.  I love the site! July will be my month to post tutorials and tips. Looking forward to that!! Hope you have time today to do something you love. I hope to finish the bear in the morning, tomorrow afternoon I have the Ladies Bible Study, so my afternoon will be full.

Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy your day.

happy crafting,

Busy, Busy, Busy...

It seems the best laid plans of mice and men never seem to work out.  Our family is going through another serious trial. We will as we always have, trust God and His amazing timing, love, and comfort to get us through this one as well.  In the time being, we have five of our precious grandchildren with us.  On top of caring for them, we are summer schooling to catch up on the year, and loving and counseling their hurt.

With becoming a "parent" again, comes a lot of responsibility and little free time to enjoy my teddy bears. A sacrifice I gladly make. But, I am still working on that bent leg bear. I finally have all the pieces sewn together, I hope to have time to get it all put together today.

We have been planting seeds for some summer fruit and veggies, hoping it's not too late to get them going. Although we do have a very long growing season here in sunny Arizona.

The girls and I continue to knit. The circular needles are working well for them.  I chose size 11 and am just letting them knit every row to learn the basics.  They are enjoying themselves and I am making A LOT of dishcloths!!

The boys are thriving with the garden and lawn work with their grandad. Everyone is getting into a nice routine. Structure and love is helping to mend their wee hearts.

Have a fantastic day and take the time to do something you love.  I hope to post pics tomorrow of a finished bear.  I can't wait to get started on the next one.  I also have an idea about a cloth doll I would like to start. I also have a couple of quilts to get finished!!  Let us know what you're up to.

happy crafting,

Debi

Technical Difficulties...

I'm sorry for the lack of posting...I have been trying for three days to get pictures downloaded, to no avail.  I asked my technically advanced husband to have a look at it for me.  We are hoping what he did will make it work.

Hoping to get up to date tomorrow!

Have a great day.  Check out my other blog...where everything happens... craftersthread.blogspot.com

Crafter's Thread

I felt this blog (pieces squared) was devoted to the quilting side of crafts, so I created a new one for all types of crafts... I will post to pieces squared occasionally, but mostly to the Crafter's Thread. Please go have a look...post what you like and let me know what you think!

Thanks!
