A Great Success!

The total hip replacement of the bear in the bear hospital was a complete success and the bear is ready to run marathons AND put out more fires! He anxious to go home and I am sure his owner will be happy to have him back in her collection. This Vermont Teddy Bear Company bear broke his hip joint and his hat was a bit worse for the wear. I fixed everything (although in this pic, I hadn't put his American flag back in his hand), gave him a good brush, and lots of love. He's showing off his cheeky attitude with the tip of his hat! He showed his fight in surgery, it was a bit hard to get the joint back in, but we worked through it and he's raring to go. Cute bear!

I also finished this little guy.  I used the pattern from the bigger bear I just finished and redesigned his body and arms, then shrunk him on the scanner. This little dot stands at just over 5 inches. He's pretty cute. He's also the one that's been in the blue bag for an eternity!

I was able to sit Wednesday afternoon and design another one. I got the fur in the mail a little while back and have been itching to make a bear from it! I chose a muted "country" blue for the paws, the fur has at least a two inch pile. I am rapt and simply can't wait to get started today.

The test quilts are moving along. I finished one and it comes out this weekend..... thequiltandneedle.com and it's the March Mystery. We are still working on the next one, which is June's mystery. It is gorgeous so far and I am sure you will like it. Sign up for more than one mystery on her site and save money!!!!!

Watch this space, I am going to try to put a bear pattern online on a separate page. I'll let you know as soon as it's available. If you make it, please let me know, I would love to see it. I have been asked to start making those teddy bears from baby's pjs, so I am busy with that as well.  It's never dull around here.

Have a fantastic day. Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate you. I hope you get some time to enjoy doing the things you love. Ladies Bible Study this afternoon, can't wait!

Enough Already!!

Ok, so I have had enough of this chesty cough and am ready to be over it! I haven't done much this week. I'm disappointed with myself. I have had this ted in the bag all week, pinned and ready to go. I have the body done and bits and pieces of other parts finished ready to be sewn into the bigger picture. I hope to finish it and the test quilt this weekend.

I also have a ted with a broken leg in the bear hospital that needs fixing. I have to stitch the leg as it was a compound fracture! He will get a total hip replacement as well as the stitches, poor guy! He is a fire-fighter bear that a friend got for Valentine's Day. Recovery time is expected to be fast and the prognosis is for a complete recovery!

Don't forget daylight savings this weekend. Here in Arizona, we don't participate, we have the same time year round. Sometimes it is tricky to know what time it is where the kids are....It is spring in the Northern Hemisphere so we spring FORWARD. Those in the Southern Hemisphere will fall BACK.

I hope you can still have tons of time to do the things you enjoy this weekend whether you gain or lose an hour! (Or stay the same !!) Enjoy the warmer weather and extra sleep!

happy crafting,

Saying Good-bye

It's a teddy bear...why is it so hard to say good-bye? I know she is going to a good home and I know she will be loved amazingly well, just find it hard to send her away. I have been sitting here for a week with her just hanging by my machine while I work on the test quilts, she's been my sounding board and critic. I will miss her! She is a cutie patootie all right!!!! She's sitting on her bubble wrap waiting for me to load her up.

And away she goes. She is boxed and the shipping label on. I hope she stays warm enough in her bubble wrap and box until she gets there. I will miss you! I am working on a pretty small one in between pages on the test quilt, that should keep me sidetracked.

Hope you have a great day...what have you been working on? I know the country is snow-bound, sick, or traveling...it's been slow moving for most people and their projects, I know I am moving a bit slower with this cough! Please share what you're working on. Enjoy your craft time, thanks for stopping by. I appreciate you.

bye baby bear!

It's A Secret...

I have been working very hard testing quilts for Jessica. I did finish the one for next weekend and I can tell you it is very nice and aptly named! I am still working on the summer mystery and it is going to be lovely as well. You will be missing out if you don't join in on the fun! Next weekend, 14-15 March...give it a go!! thequiltandneedle.com March Mystery.

I decided to take a wee break and finish cutting out the teddy bear I drew well over a week ago! I need to get back to finishing up these blocks for Jess though, so I will paint this ted and get back to the blocks.

It's been a weird week so far, I've been sick with a virus of some kind, I have a congested head and chest and I have this dry hacking cough, hence I haven't been posting much, only on Facebook every now and then.

I will post pics of the ted later...  Hope you are enjoying your day. Take some time to do something you enjoy!

Thanks for stopping by, see you soon!
